Jennifer Lotz

Senior Counsel

Jennifer Lotz comes to Curley, Hurtgen & Johnsrud LLP with substantial experience in both employment litigation and counseling.  In her litigation practice, Ms. Lotz has defended employers in federal and state courts and before various administrative agencies against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, defamation, breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, and wage and hour violations, including single plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action matters.

As a counselor, Ms. Lotz partners with clients to effectively manage numerous day-to-day workplace issues, including termination and discipline decisions, reasonable accommodation issues, managing leaves of absence, internal harassment and discrimination complaints, wage and hour disputes, and protection of proprietary information.  Ms. Lotz also has significant experience drafting and updating employee handbooks and policies, executive employment agreements, severance agreements, arbitration agreements, and proprietary information agreements.

Previously, Ms. Lotz worked at both international law firms, including Littler Mendelson and Morrison & Foerster, and local boutique firms where she obtained extensive hands-on experience counseling and defending employers ranging from early stage start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.   

Ms. Lotz received her law degree from Stanford Law School in 1998 where she was awarded the Hilmer Oehlmann, Jr. Award for excellence in Research and Legal Writing, and graduated from Georgetown University, magna cum laude, in 1994At both Georgetown and Stanford, Ms. Lotz was active in theater as a producer, director, and board member.

Ms. Lotz is currently the Managing Director of Programming for The CLUB Silicon Valley, an incubator of women leaders, where she develops, manages and implements monthly programming events.  In November of 2015, Ms. Lotz was awarded a CLUBBie Driver Award for her work driving programming initiatives for The CLUB. 

Ms. Lotz lives in San Jose with her husband and twin daughters.  In addition to activities with her family, Ms. Lotz enjoys theater, reading, and screenwriting.  Ms. Lotz won a screenwriting fellowship with Writers Boot Camp and has since written multiple television pilot scripts, including one for a legal drama which placed as a semi-finalist in the 2013 Pilot Launch Script Competition.
