Tatyana Shmygol

Tatyana Shmygol is an experienced counselor and litigator. In her litigation practice, Ms. Shmygol defends employers in federal and state courts and before various administrative agencies against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, and wage and hour violations, including single plaintiff and class action matters. She also helps employers navigate pre-litigation disputes and internal investigations.
As a counselor, Ms. Shmygol advises employers on a wide variety of workplace issues, including hiring, discipline decisions (including terminations), leaves of absence, wage and hour, and HR practices. Ms. Shmygol also helps employers in drafting and updating employee handbooks and policies, executive employment agreements, severance agreements, arbitration agreements, and proprietary information agreements.
Prior to joining Curley, Hurtgen & Johnsrud LLP, Ms. Shmygol worked at international law firms (including Skadden, Arps, Meagher & Flom LLP and Seyfarth Shaw LLP) and a local boutique firm where she obtained extensive hands-on experience counseling and defending employers ranging from early stage start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
Ms. Shmygol received her law degree from UC Berkeley School of Law in 2009 and graduated from UC Berkeley with a double major in Economics and Psychology and a minor in French literature.
Ms. Shmygol lives in Burlingame with her husband, son, daughter and dog. Ms. Shmygol enjoys drinking tea, reading, walking, cooking, and writing poetry. She is fluent in Russian.
