Senior Counsel

Cynthia Jara is a litigator representing employers in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration.  She has significant experience litigating complex discrimination, harassment and retaliation suits.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Jara worked for the in-house legal department of multi-billion dollar corporation based in Los Angeles, California.  There, in addition to labor and employment disputes, she handled a wide variety of other matters, including complex commercial litigation and administrative agency matters.  Ms. Jara also spent eight years working for a large, California based law firm, where she litigated multimillion dollar disputes for various publicly-traded companies.

Ms. Jara is admitted to practice in California, all federal district courts in California, and the Ninth Circuit.  She received her law degree from UCLA in 2000.  While in law school, she worked for the United States Department of Labor, and volunteered for the Fair Housing Institute.  She received her undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Political Science from UC Berkeley.

Ms. Jara participates in pro bono activities and is particularly interested in those involving education.  Most recently, she has volunteered for a non-profit company devoted to revitalizing libraries at underfunded public schools.  She has also served as a mentor for EmpowHER, an organization focused on keeping at-risk, low-income, minority students in school.

Ms. Jara resides in the South Bay with her husband and daughter.  She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.
